In the first and current stage, surveys are conducted among European intensive care nurses to detect deficiencies in their knowledge of evidence-based guidelines for infection prevention. In a second stage, the results of these surveys will guide us to developing and implementing targeted educational programmes. Eventually, a website-based e-learning platform on infection prevention will be developed. The EVIDENCE research project is endorsed by the European Critical Care Research Network (ECCRN) of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM).
